About Us

We are a progressive private practice that has provided Speech Therapy services to the Merrimack Valley and North Shore Communities of Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire for more than twenty years and continues to be at the forefront in treatment of a wide range of problems that affect communication skills. We treat a full range of speech and language disorders in infants, children, adolescents, and adults.

The Speech and Language Center was established in 1988 by Barbara Gordon, M.S., CCC/SLP and Sheila Therrien, M.S., CCC/SLP in North Andover, MA. Throughout the years this clinic has been a staple to the Merrimack Valley in speech and language therapy services in the clinic, in schools and in local hospitals.

Speech Therapy Solutions, Inc. was established in 2006 by Kim Carroll, M.S., CCC/SLP in Salem, NH. Services have been offered throughout Southern New Hampshire and the Merrimack Valley in clinic, in homes and around the community.

The two centers formed together in May of 2017 and are committed to continuing to provide high quality, dynamic speech-language therapy services.

Our Centers are dedicated to building communication skills necessary for social, emotional, and academic success for children and adults. We specialize in evaluation and treatment of a variety of speech and language disorders within a warm, friendly, state-of-the-art out-patient facility.

Our highly trained clinicians are committed to providing comprehensive services to the clients we treat. We are recognized for the time we take to answer questions, work with other professionals, and patient and family training, with emphasis on generalization of skills within the home, community, and school. What is the general process of speech therapy?

An evaluation is required to start therapy. The evaluation will give us insight into the individual's needs. Frequency and duration of visits are determined based off clinical findings and clinician recommendations. Every year, we re-evaluate to ensure goals are up to date and appropriate. Discharge is typically when the client has met stated goals.

Speech therapy is considered a skilled and medically necessary service. It is important that visits are regular and consistent to make progress. Speech services are year round.

Does my insurance cover speech therapy?

Prior to your initial visit with us, we will call to verify eligibility and benefits. This will provide us information as to what your insurance covers, as well as what the expected financial responsibility would be for you. Eligibility and benefits are not a guarantee of payment by your insurance company. We work diligently to ensure we have the most up to date information as possible.

Insurance is usually subject to deductible, copay and/or coinsurance.

What are your hours of operation?

Our administrator is present from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Our clinicians treat Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday hours are limited. We are not open on Saturdays or Sundays.

Are you open on the weekends?

Staff may reschedule on Saturdays or complete evaluations by appointment on Saturdays. We are not routinely open on Saturdays.

My child was evaluated somewhere else, do we need a new evaluation to start therapy at your clinic?

No. Evaluations are required one time per year. If your child was evaluated elsewhere, we can utilize this evaluation to create the care plan. If you feel that evaluation was not sufficient, we can certainly plan formal or informal evaluations.

What if my insurance company does not cover speech therapy?

We offer services at private pay rates. We also offer package deals at discounted rates. Please contact us directly for these rates.

You don't take my insurance, what are my options?

A superbill requires you to pay our private pay rate. Upon receipt of payment, we will provide the superbill with information for you to self-submit the claim. Your insurance company reimburse at the rate which they pay speech therapy services - which may be equal or less than our private pay rate. Please call your insurance company to verify your eligibility and benefits - be sure to ask if prior authorization is required to self submit.

Do you take Mass Health?

No. We are not Mass Health Providers.

Do you provide speech services in home?

No, we do not provide services in your home. We only offer services in our clinic(s) and via tele therapy.

My child receives Early Intervention, can they also receive speech services at your clinic?

Yes, you can receive services at our facility along with your EI Provider.

We will call to verify eligibility and benefits from early intervention services as coverage may vary.

My child was found ineligible for speech services through the school district, will they qualify for speech services through your clinic?

We will conduct our own independent evaluation to determine candidacy for speech services. Outpatient speech therapy services follow different guidelines than the school districts.

Do you offer teletherapy?

Yes, we currently offer tele therapy services. This is subject to change based off insurance coverage.

I am interested in comprehensive diagnostics to compliment testing done at school, is this possible?

Yes, we specialize in comprehensive diagnostics to help support your child's needs at school. Please contact us directly for more information.

Do you work with adults?

Yes. However, we are limited in the 65+ population. We do not accept Medicare.

Will you travel to my child's school to provide services?

Typically, we only provide services for clients in our clinic(s).
